Guest Blogger: Sam from The Peak of Tres Chic

Hi House Of Turquoise readers!  Sam here, from The Peak of Tres Chic, a blog about my love of interior design, fashion, travel, and entertaining.  I work in Houston, TX as an interior designer.  When Erin asked me to guest post for her while she is taking time off with the new baby, I was honored!  HOT was one of the first blogs I began following, and I still read it almost daily.  Who can resist turquoise?!  Not I.  In fact, I  recently designed a townhouse living room for a couple here in Houston, TX, that utilized the beautiful color in it's many shades:

The color is so vibrant, and using it throughout the design reflected the youthfulness and energy of the young family I was designing for.

Do you like to use varying shades of turquoise in the same room like me?

Thanks for having me today, Erin!  Best wishes for you and your new addition! ;)

XOXO,

Guest Blogger: Laura from Meaningful Spaces

Hello everyone!  My name is Laura and I blog over at Meaningful Spaces.  A humongous thank you to Erin for the privilege of adding to her beautiful blog.  Erin's House of Turquoise was one of the reasons I started blogging last year.  I have always loved DIY projects, and after enjoying Erin's blog, and others for years, I decided to jump in and join the blogging party.  I love to  connect with people that have the same passion about all things house and home.

I am definitely a lover of turquoise, every room in my house has some version of it.  Today I want to share with you my latest project, my laundry room.  The space is anchored by one of my favorite turquoise paint colors, Sherwin Williams Sea Salt.

So that is my newly made over laundry room.  Erin's blog is so beautiful, that I couldn't bring myself to post the before pictures of this space, but please go here if you want to see a complete before and after (picture wall to wall pink, green, and yellow wallpaper!)  And please visit Meaningful Spaces to see more ways that I have used turquoise at home.

Thank you again Erin, it was a privilege to share with your readers today!

Have a wonderful day~
Laura

Guest Blogger: Edyta from EDYTA & CO.

Hello wonderful House of Turquoise readers, This is Edyta from EDYTA & CO. I am excited to be Erin's guest for the day to share a dose of turquoise while Erin is off focusing on her babino :) I am so so excited and happy for her!

I love stopping over here to get inspired and enjoy one of my favorite colors- Turquoise. Erin sure does find some amazing spaces to share with us all and I am not sure I could find anything that she hasn't shared with us already. On that note, I thought I would share with you a few interiors that I designed that included the color turquoise.

(The room below is a guest bedroom that I transformed from dated and tired to fun, bright and cheery. Turquoise is evident in the painting above the bed- it was actually a piece I painted and it worked perfectly in this room  :) , ceramic gourd lamps, blanket and accessories)

 I just love these lamps!

(Here is a snipped of a bedroom in progress where I also used turquoise, it's a much more muted shade shown here used in the velvet accent pillows. This shade looks lovely against grays, in this case the faux fur blanket and the contrast of the sequence pillow. It is also sprinkled around the room in accessories, geode, clients antique tea cup and other textiles not shown in this photo)

The grays, whites, purples, pinks and dark woods play so nicely with this shade of turquoise.

(In this project I helped a client transition from a large home to a small Chicago 1 bedroom apartment. She had many antiques and treasures that she wanted to integrate yet she really wanted a vibrant space. I took the shade of turquoise that I spotted in one of her pieces of art she loved and saturated the walls with a similar tone. We had some beautiful silky drapes and sheers made to envelop and soften the room and used another textile with some gold geometric detail in the accent pillows. The sheer is also a combination of gold and turquoise, and all the window treatment add such an amazing glow when the sun is shining. I am so happy the client went with a stronger tone and so is she. She continues to tell me how much she loves to be in this room.)

At the moment I have a couple rooms in the works where I used turquoise and I can not wait till they are finished! One is a very calm room and another a dynamic one ;-) I just love how turquoise can be so versatile -dynamic as well as calm. On that note I am signing off, I invite you to stop by my blog and say hello- EDYTA & CO. Blog. I wish Erin and her husband all the best on this amazing time in their life!!  I know that baby will have many beautiful turquoise outfits ;-)

Xo Edyta

As many of you know, Baby Wesley Alan made his appearance a few days early...
....and so, for Chris and Erin ...

...Parenthood begins....

There are no doubt an abundance of friends and family in Erin and Chris's life that will make sure that their sweet baby Wesley has every THING he needs to get up and down and all around in this world...but as we all know...it takes a village to raise a child.

...ALL of us...Erin's followers and supporters of the "House of Turquoise" blog are a
UNIQUE NEW KIND OF VILLAGE.

A baby is a baby for just the blink of an eye...but childhood and parenthood is a long winding road, with twists and turns...ups and downs...highs ...and even though most days feel like Christmas...yes even some lows...

I invite you all to share with Erin and Chris ...

..."YOUR UNIQUE VIRTUAL GIFT"

Something from you...a word, a story, a bit of advice, a lullaby, a quote, a poem or even a photograph.
No MATERIAL GIFTS PLEASE.

JUST Give YOU.

My hope is that once all of these "GIFTS" are collected , I will compile them into a book that Erin and Chris can hold and share with their little Boy one day, and let him know how many people loved him before he even got here!

I will collect all of your GIFTS via the comments section, HERE on My Old Country House Blog where this post will be replicated.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIFTS.

Big News!!!

You might have guessed by my lack of posting that this cutie decided to arrive a little early! Meet Wesley Alan, born on Tuesday 8/20/13 at 8:30 pm. (It was even a Blue Moon that night, what are the odds?!) 6 lbs 14oz, 20.5 inches long and perfect in every way–we can't stop staring! Life is beautiful!

It's going to be a big ol' cuddle-fest in my household, so I'm not going to be spending much time on my computer here. I do have some great guest bloggers who've been ready and waiting to stand in though and I'm excited to share their turquoise spaces with you! (Once we unload our camera, I'll be sure to share some more pics too! And then there's the nursery of course!)

Lastly I just want to say a huge heartfelt thank you for all of your thoughtful comments, emails and well-wishes during the home stretch and throughout the entire pregnancy! Your support and excitement mean the world to us!

Welcome to the Mouse House

Hayley of the inspiring and creative blog Welcome to the Mouse House just finished up redecorating her cheerful family room...isn't it super cute?! I LOVE the color palette! I noticed Thomas Paul's Dahlia fabric first, it's one of my favorites! (She actually made the curtains and throw pillows herself–check out her Etsy shop for more of her handmade creations!) The artwork above the sectional is great too, it adds the perfect pop of color to the space! Read all about the space and see more photos (including before shots!) right here!
